Notice of Resident-Hosted Information Session on Blue Spring Lake wake issues, as presented by Blue Spring Lake residents via Zoom: NOTICE OF POSSIBLE QUORUM OF TOWN BOARD MEMBERS ATTENDING A GENERAL INFORMATION MEETING REGARDING BLUE SPRING LAKE ISSUES.   This Notice is being provided to alert the public that it is possible that a quorum of the Palmyra Town Board may be in attendance at an Information Session being hosted by a group of concerned residents of Blue Spring Lake.  This information meeting is in addition to the Special Meeting scheduled for December 7, 2024 at the Palmyra-Eagle School District Office.  Please be informed that attendance by the Town Board would merely be for information gathering/educational purposes, and no action will be taken by the Town Board.  The infomational meeting will be held via Zoom, with login information below.  The information meeting is scheduled for December 4, 2024.  (Please note, the informational Zoom meeting is scheduled for December 4th and the in-person Blue Spring Lake Association meeting is scheduled for December 7)   Please see the description of the Zoom meeting below, as described by the hosting residents.   In advance of the upcoming special meeting, a group of concerned residents have scheduled a second information session Wednesday night from 6pm-7pm on Zoom with the Last Wilderness Alliance to educate lake residents on the issues involved. The Last Wilderness Alliance has assisted other lake towns and municipalities across the state of Wisconsin prohibit or restrict wake-enhanced boating to protect our shorelines, lake bottoms, and aquatic habitats.  This presentation will address: ·         A brief education on wake boat operation and equipment ·         Environmental and safety issues related to wake boat operation ·         Drafting a local ordinance related to restricting certain artificial wake enhancement   Please join us Wednesday (December 4) from 6pm-7pm to learn about the environmental and safety issues related to wake-enhanced boating.   Wednesday Night 6pm Zoom Meeting Link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89465359142?pwd=KD2YuE3io9wVR7CvKdZDAFVvjjbvo3.1   Thank you, Ryan Tobiasz W1172 South Shore Drive

Ordinance 2024-002 Amending Island Road Speed Limit

 

TOWN OF PALMYRA, WI   ORDINANCE NO.  2024-002

Ordinance Lowering the Speed Limit on Island  Road

Town of Palmyra, Jefferson County, Wisconsin

 

The Town Board of the Town of Palmyra, Jefferson County, Wisconsin, has the specific authority under s. 349.11, Wis. Stats, to adopt this ordinance.

This ordinance, adopted by a majority of the town board on a roll call vote with a quorum present and voting and proper notice having been given, provides for the reduction of the speed limits on certain Town highways in the Town of Palmyra as follows:

A.  Pursuant to s. 11, Wis Stats, effective August 19, 2024, speed limits on certain Town of Palmyra town highways are reduced or modified as follows:

The Town of Palmyra road known as Island Road, in it’s entirety,  is reduced to 45 miles per hour. 

Pursuant to s. 349.11(5), Wis stats, the Town chairperson, or his or her designee, shall place appropriate traffic signs at the above-described locations on or before the effective date of this ordinance.

B.  No person may operate any vehicle on the above-noted town highways in violation of the above-noted speed limits. Any violation shall be subject to penalties under s. 60, Wis. Stats.

This ordinance is effective on publication or posting or August 19, 2024.  

The Town of Palmyra clerk shall properly post or publish this ordinance as required under s. 60.80, Wis. Stats.

Adopted this 12th  day of August, 2024.
