Town of Palmyra 2024 in Review

Town of Palmyra

2024 in Review

Since the current Town Board was elected in April 2023, we have made it a priority to work toward improving the quality of life in our Town.

  • We have adopted ordinances prohibiting thru-trucks on most Town roads, (except Little Prairie Road).
  • We have adjusted some speed limits.
  • The Town arranged to have Hooper Road chip sealed in an attempt to extend the life of the road for approximately another seven years.
  • The Town worked jointly with the Village to pulverize and pave Blue Spring Lake Drive around the triangle.
  • The Town’s Highway Committee prepared requests for proposals and documentation for various road projects, and orchestrated the bid process for the projects. Approximately five miles of road were crack sealed in 2024 and are planned to be seal coated in 2025, along with two additional miles of roads.
  • We have installed or replaced over 120 road signs that were unreadable or in need of replacement, and that comply with highway administration guidelines.
  • When Rural Insurance Co. decided not to renew the Town’s coverage, new coverage was renegotiated with a different company. The new coverage is more comprehensive and offers better protection for the Town and its assets.
  • We continually tried to keep the roads safe after the heavy spring rains and winds caused unprecedented amount of trees to fall, some over roadways making the roads impassable.

The Town Board’s goal is to be as transparent as possible in all Town matters. Feel free to contact any Town Board member with questions and comments.
