Question and Answer on Fire/EMS contract – 12/18/2021

Q:  You have talked about investigating options for the fire/EMS contract. I would like to know specifically what those options are.

A:  The Fire and EMS Committee is  investigating private options and public options.  We are also investigating split services.  We are researching such things as costs for services across neighboring towns and counties, as well as towns and counties throughout the State of Wisconsin and the level of service provided and cost per capita in each.  To this end,  the Town Fire and EMS Committee has contacted the Wisconsin Town’s Association and reviewed information provided by by the Wisconsin Gazetteer in its publication titled “HomeTownLocator”, the budgets and structures of service (one provider or multiple providers) of towns in Jefferson County, Walworth County, Waukesha County and Sheboygan County.   We have also requested information from Jefferson County Emergency Management Department and will be filing a foia request with the Village of Palmyra pertaining to the nature of calls into the Town and Village.

The Fire and EMS Committee will have a recommendation prepared for the Town Board to consider at the December 30, 2021 special Town Board Meeting.
