SPECIAL TOWN ELECTOR MEETING Notice is hereby given of a special town meeting of electors of the Town of Palmyra on Thursday, November 14, 2024. This special town meeting will immediately follow the completion of the Public Hearing on the proposed 2025 budget which begins at 6:00 p.m. at the Palmyra Eagle High School Community Center, 123 Burr Oak Street Palmyra, Wi 53156. This special town meeting of electors is called pursuant to Sec. 60.12(1)(c) of Wisconsin Statutes by the Town Board for the following purposes: 1) To consider adoption of a Resolution by the electors at the town meeting endorsing a town board resolution, 2024-004, which proposes that the town levy exceed the state allowable levy limit under Wis. Stat 66.0602, specifically a proposed tax levy which would exceed the allowable town tax levy for 2024 (to be collected in 2025) before adjustments, by 2.70524%, for a dollar increase of $145,269, for a total tax levy (after adjustments) of $673,057. 2) To approve the 2024 total town levy (to be collected in 2025) pursuant to Wisconsin Statute 60.10(1)(a) by adopting Resolution 2024-005, Town of Palmyra Electors, to adopt the total town tax levy. Question: My question to the board is where are we at with regards to the EMS/FIRE contract? A lot of citizens are very concerned about their safety. I checked with my home owners insurance and was told my premiums would DOUBLE if the fire station is more than 5 miles from my home
Answer: We are currently covered under a contract with the Village of Palmyra Fire Department. However, there are residents in the Town of Palmyra who are more than 5 miles from the fire station.
